Let's get back to the reason you came here. Focusing on the flame of a candle is an excellent way to meditate and pray. Candlelight can help you center yourself, create a soothing atmosphere, and offer tranquility in your space. Candlelight also has natural healing properties that have long been used for centuries by many cultures worldwide. This blog post will talk about how to focus on a candle's flame during meditation and prayer, the benefits of using candles during meditation, where this technique originated from, and more!

By the way, my name is Kamali Claros, and I am the founder and CEO of Abundant Flame Candle Co. I have always had a love for home Décor and fragrances. Have you ever had a scent trigger memory of when you were a young child at your grandma's house, or how about a particular cologne or perfume and it takes you back to your first crush? When I think back on things I have faced or experienced in my life, I can never forget to implement a few things: prayer, journaling, and grounding techniques (I didn't know at the time that it was called that) but let's just say I had laser focus.

Oh, totally forgot to mention that I was a Respiratory Therapist and many first responders when the pandemic hit, and even now that we are almost at the 2-year mark, I found myself feeling overwhelmed, mentally drained, content rumoring thoughts, a feeling of disappointment. I became a therapist to help people and, in any way, make their day, even by a small or some big act put a smile on their face. So, I find myself trying to implement those things again in my life to get me back on track but to no avail. I just could not bring myself back on track. one day while sitting in an Airbnb at one of my travel contracts. I lit an aromatherapy candle and stared at the flame. Like a spark! that was it, can I tell you that was the first time in I don't know how long I was able to quiet my mind, and that was the birth of Abundant Flame Candle Co., but enough about me, let get back to why you are reading this blog.

Another important aspect of using candles during meditation is where this technique originated. Candle gazing or flame gazing is an ancient practice from many different cultures worldwide, including aboriginal tribes who mainly use candlelight for healing purposes such as cleansing impurities and removing negative energy, which can sometimes affect their physical and spiritual health. Flame gazing is also known as Candle gazing or Candle meditation, and it can be practiced by anyone regardless of their faith. The most important aspect of the Flame gazing technique is focusing on a single point without allowing your vision to wander around. Once you have found something that inspires you, such as an image, statue, painting, or even just the flame itself, look at it closely while taking deep breaths to clear your mind from any thoughts that may arise during this time.

Begin by lighting a candle and making sure it is safe where the wick will not burn anything else. The flame of the Candle represents your focus on your Intentions, We have a fantastic premade line of candles that were created for this purpose, and I use them daily along with this technique but enough of that, let's get back to why you are reading this blog. Make sure that you are sitting somewhere stable without distractions from other light sources or loud noises that could disrupt your practice. Candlelight can often be used as an alternative to incense because both offer similar scents and aromas; however, many people cannot use incense during their meditation due to allergies or sensitivities. Candlelight also has natural healing properties, which have been known for centuries worldwide! If you suffer from migraines, anxiety attacks, stress-related issues such as insomnia or depression, this technique may help ease those symptoms while praying or meditating. Candlelight has been known to help create a more soothing atmosphere and offer tranquility in your space as well!

When practicing Candle Gazing Meditation (Here are some steps):

  • - Make sure there are no distractions (noises/light)
  • - Sit comfortably with good posture
  • - Lit your wick
  • - Look only at one thing for a certain period—the candle's flame
  • - Breathe deeply and slowly
  • - Clear your mind from anything that might distract you, such as thoughts or worries about the future
  • - Once you feel like your mind has cleared, simply observe the candlelight and its aura without judgment or expectation

Candle gazing is not intended to put you into a deep meditative state, but it can be used as an entranceway to more profound meditation. At times all we need is 10-20 mins of this technic Instead, it will help clear your mind for when you take on other types of meditation practices to better focus on them afterward or just need a mental break from the everyday stresses, we all face. Candle gazing can also be an effective way to set intentions before any type of prayer or meditation practice using symbols such as statues/pictures/paintings that represent what kind of connection you are looking for during your session. Candle Gazing Meditation may appear relatively simple at first glance; however, it requires a great deal of focus and patience, so don't get disheartened if it doesn't work right away.

The benefit of lighting Abundant Flame Candles is that they have calming effects from the candlelight, influenced by the flame cleansing properties that are ascribed to burning the candle.
